LaDonna Johnson, 85 of Albion, NE passed away Friday, January 1, 2016 at the Boone County Health Center in Albion.

Memorial Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 8, 2016 at Zion Lutheran Church in Albion, NE with Rev. Michael Kern officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Rose Hill Cemetery in Albion. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Levander Funeral Home in Albion, NE.

Ladonna Irene Johnson, daughter of William “Alfred” and Stena (Nelson) Barnett, was born March 2, 1930 at Albion, NE. She was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel-Zion Lutheran Church (South Branch) northeast of Albion and attended Boone County District 34 school through the eighth grade. She lived with her grandmother in town while attending Albion High School and graduated in 1947. Following high school, she worked for Carhart-Foreman Lumber Company.

On September 24, 1950, she was united in marriage to Richard Floyd Johnson at the South Branch Church. Ladonna and Dick were blessed with three children: Sonja, Scott and Joan. They made their home in Albion, where LaDonna worked for Consumers Power. She later worked as the secretary at Zion Lutheran Church and then as a dispatcher and jailor at the Boone County Sheriff’s Office. They both spent time helping their son Scott cook at the City Café in Newman Grove. She retired from the sheriff’s department in November 1993 and cared for her husband until entering the Good Samaritan Society-Albion in January 2015.

LaDonna was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. She was proud of her Norwegian heritage and carried on the traditions of weaving wheat, Norwegian Rosemaling and baking Kringla with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed cross stitching and knitting. She had a caring heart and was always helping others. Above all, she was dedicated to her family: always making sure they were safe, cared for and loved.

LaDonna is survived by her husband Dick Johnson of Albion; three children: Sonja Badorek (husband Mike Hall) of Grand Island, NE; Scott (Marlene) Johnson of Atkinson, NE; Joan (Matt) Johnson of Lincoln, NE; four grandchildren: Miechelle (Brady) Davis of Atkinson, NE; Sheena (Ed) Uecker of Bartlett, NE; Jacob Johnson of Ainsworth, NE; Harper Johnson of Lincoln, NE; seven great-grandchildren: Caleb, Madison, Abby and Jadon Davis, Trinton, Tripp and Taelie Uecker; along with other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Alfred and Stena Barnett; her cousin and dear friend Dorthy Shafer; and son-in-law Jim Badorek.
