Mass of Christian Burial for Colette A. Beierman

Colette A. Beierman, 84 of Albion, NE, died Monday, August 17, 2015 at her home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 22, 2015 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Albion, NE with Fr. Stan Schmit officiating. Interment will follow at St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery in Albion. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday at the church with a 7 p.m. Wake Service. Levander Funeral Home of Albion, NE is in charge of arrangements.

Colette Wegener Weiand Beierman was born at Cornlea, NE on November 4, 1930 to Ben and Dora (Brandl) Wegener. She attended school at Sacred Heart in Cornlea, then Humphrey High School and later Capitol Beauty School in Omaha. She worked at AT & T Bell as a telephone and teletype Operator in Boulder, CO, and Columbus, Norfolk and Omaha, NE. During the Korean War, she worked Inventory Control at Hart Supply and then as secretary to the Chief Engineer for Bell Mfg. at Oshkosh, WI.

On April 28, 1956, she married Fred Weiand, Jr. at Sacred Heart in Cornlea. They lived in Omaha and later operated Fred’s & Colette’s Barber and Beauty in Osmond and The Happy Hour Bar & Café at Foster. She later moved to Valentine, worked for the rest home, then moved to Columbus and worked with handicapped children and at the Holiday Inn. She opened Colette’s Barber and Beauty in Newman Grove which she operated until 1993, when she closed it to help her husband on the farm and dairy.

She married Elvin Beierman on April 25, 1987 in St. Michael’s Church in Albion. Elvin passed away December 26, 2012.

She was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church of Albion and St. Edward Catholic Church. She lived life to the fullest. Two words she didn’t allow were “Can’t” and “Won’t”. She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening and flowers, fishing, camping, hunting, horseback riding, traveling, dancing, her neighborhood ladies club, her grandchildren and her 32 nieces and nephews. She’s thanked her brothers, sisters and their families for letting her share in their lives.

She is survived by five step-children: Keith (Diane) Beierman and children: Josh, Kevin & Keri; Tim (Paula) Beierman and children: Ryan, Tyler & Ashtyn, all of Albion; Mary Beierman and fiancé Don Gittens of Omaha, NE; Larry (Kim) Beierman and children Shelby, Sheldon & Payton of Albion; Kent (Jane) Beierman and children Justin, Kaylie & Taylor of Cedar Rapids, NE; two brothers: Emmert Wegener and Mylen (Loretta) Wegener; a sister: Gladys (Gene) Pfeifer; sister-in-law: Helen Wegener, many nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews; and sponsored children from Brazil, Cambodia, and Bangladesh.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands: Elvin Beierman and Fred Weiand, Jr., a sister Bertha (Leo) Wiese, two brothers: Lee (Bernice) Wegener and Earl Wegener; sister-in-law: Reet Wegener; a nephew: Larry Wegener, a great-nephew: Rob Wiese and a great-niece Anita Wiese.
