Funeral Services For Wilbur Scott

Wilbur G. Scott, 98 of Cedar Rapids, NE, passed away Friday, October 27, 2017 at the Boone County Health Center, Albion, Nebraska.
 
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at United Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids with Pastor Vern Olson officiating. Burial will follow at the Sunset Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.  Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at Levander Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids. Levander Funeral Home of Cedar Rapids is in charge of arrangements. 

Wilbur Garland Scott, son of Hervey and Iona (Hans) Scott was born December 14, 1918, in Garland, Nebraska. Wilbur attended school in Denton, Nebraska.

On February 17, 1943 he was united in marriage to Lucille Esther Kurtzer. To this union three children were born: Jerome, Patricia, and Linda. The couple lived in Emerald, Nebraska before moving to a farm near Cedar Rapids, NE in 1955.

Wilbur farmed his entire life with the help of his wife Lucy. They also owned and operated the L and S Tavern in Cedar Rapids for many years. 

Wilbur was a member of the United Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids.  He loved working with horses and was a member of the Cedar Rapids Saddle Club. Wilbur loved telling jokes and enjoyed the local melodramas. In his younger days he enjoyed going to dances.
 
Wilbur is survived by; daughters: Patricia (William) Schmieding of Omaha, NE, and Linda (Gary) Giebelhaus of Sun City West, AZ; four grandchildren: Michelle (Scott) Farrell of Long Island, NY; Michael (Kelly) Giebelhaus of Bend, OR; Jaymie (Jon) Reiners of Denver, CO; Scott Schmieding of Cedar Rapids, NE; seven great-grandchildren: Emma, Garrison and Kellan Farrell of Long Island, NY; Jahla and Zoe Giebelhaus of Bend, OR; Will and Audrey Reiners of Denver, CO; two nephews : Darrell and Leland Naderhoff of Adams, NE; one brother-in-law: Harold Kurtzer of Lincoln, NE, along with many nieces and nephews.


He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lucille, son Jerome, one brother: Harold Scott and one sister: Ruth Naderhoff
