Funeral Services For Theodore "Bud" Ketteler

Theodore “Bud” L. Ketteler, of Petersburg, NE, passed away on Monday, September 25, 2017 at his home in Petersburg, NE.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, September 29, 2017, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church at Petersburg, NE with Fr. Mark Tomasiewicz officiating. Interment will follow at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, Petersburg, NE with Military Rites conducted by American Legion Post #334 of Petersburg, NE. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Thursday with a 7:00 p.m. Wake Service at the church.  Visitation will resume Friday morning at 9:00 a.m. until service time.

Levander Funeral Home of Albion, NE is in charge of arrangements.

Theodore “Bud” L. Ketteler, the son of Theodore Ketteler, Sr. and Lucy (Pape) Ketteler was born in the family home near Petersburg, NE.  He was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Catholic Church in Petersburg.   Bud attended St. John’s Catholic School until the 10th grade when he began working with his dad on the farm, along with other odd jobs. 
On September 27, 1951 Bud entered the United States Marine Corps.   He served until he was honorably discharged on September 26, 1953.

Following his return from the service, Bud was united in marriage to Donna Henn on June 22, 1954.  Bud farmed his whole life. He was also an active member of the Petersburg Community.  In addition to being a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, he served as an usher and Extra Ordinary Eucharistic Minister, and served on the Parish Council.  He was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters and the Knights of Columbus.  He served on the Petersburg School Dist. 36 School Board, the Petersburg Volunteer Fire Department, the Petersburg Community Club, and the Petersburg State Bank Board of Directors.  He was a member of the American Legion Post #334.  Bud also enjoyed golfing in his retirement years and joining the guy’s downtown for coffee.

Bud is survived by his wife Donna of Petersburg, NE; children: Michele (Butch) Skradis of Omaha, NE; Julie Ketteler of Omaha, NE; Randy (Margo) Ketteler of Petersburg, NE; Jeanine Allen of Hermosa, SD; Neil Ketteler of Lincoln, NE; Annette (Steve) Devall of O’Neill, NE; son-in-law Mark Wiseman of O’Neill, NE; nine grandchildren: Jason (Tricia) Wiseman of Page, NE; Amy (Craig) Farlee of Kearney, NE; Mike (Eric) Skradis of Omaha, NE; Chase (Maureen) Skradis of Bennington, NE; Molly (Brett) Deatz of Rock Port, MO; Brandon Allen of Hermosa, SD; Miranda, Scott, and Paige Ketteler of Petersburg, NE; 10 great-grandchildren; brother Bert Ketteler of Petersburg, NE; sister Rosemary Seier of Albion, NE; sister-in-law Mary Ketteler of Pleasant Hill, MO; brothers-in-law: Morrie Henn of Albion, NE and Duane (Marilyn) Henn of Kimberling City, MO; sister-in-law Marlene McClinton of Omaha, NE; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law Delbert and Nora Henn; daughter Deb Wiseman; son-in-law Bob Belgum; brothers: Laurence, Jerome (Adylene), Richard (Eileen), LaVern (Germaine), Cyril, and Gerald Ketteler; sister Rita (LaVern) Reicks; brother-in-law Bob McClinton; and sister-in-law Mary “Dolly” Henn.

Bud was one in a million. He will be missed by all of us who knew and loved him. And oh that smile of his. May he see the face of the Lord this day.

Bud was the nicest man I have ever known, lf everyone though.t like Theodore this would be much better and safer world to live in, R.I.P. , we will miss you!
