Funeral Services For Ruth Kendrick

Ruth Kendrick, 88, of Albion, NE, passed away Thursday, March 31, 2016 at the Good Samaritan Society in Albion, NE. 

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at the Loretto United Methodist Church in Loretto, NE with Rev. Dan Dempsey officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Albion, NE. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Monday at Levander Funeral Home in Albion, NE.

Born Ada Ruth Clark, named after her mother Ada Dora (Wenk) Clark long time resident of Boone county passed away peacefully at Good Samaritan Nursing Home Albion, Nebraska March 31, 2016 at the age of 88. Husband Brandon Kendrick and Ruth purchased the home in Loretto April 1950 where they resided and raised four boys that survive her, James, Larry, Wallace and Bruce. Ruth has seven grand children: Jennifer (Kendrick) Ertler, Jameson, Kevin and Kirk Kendrick, Michelle (Kendrick) Walters, Alyssa and David Kendrick and four Great Grand children: Tyler Kendrick, Kailyn and Sydney Ertler, Olivia Walters and Nicholas Knuth. 

Father Herb and mother Ada rented the Ruddy farm north of Albion where Ruth attended District 7, later they rented a farm from Anna Root located 5 miles north and east of Loretto. Between 1937 and 1939 Herb moved his family to Loretto where he ran a gasoline station and later owned and operated the Clark’s Creamery and telephone office. Ruth attended District 72 until going to Albion High. Ruth is a 1945 graduate of Albion High school. 

Ruth married Brandon Kendrick July 4th 1946 and set up home in Albion. Together they owned and operated a donut shop providing fresh donuts to local and surrounding restaurants. After moving to Loretto, Brandon became the rural mail carrier and later Ruth and Brandon started The Bike Shop in Albion. 

Ruth was a founding member of the VFW Auxiliary and active in the Young Mothers, United Methodist Women and assisted with the food pantry as well as other local projects.

Ruth is proceeded in death by her husband Brandon Keith Kendrick, her father; Herbert Larsen Clark, Mother; Ada Dora (Wenk) Clark, sisters; Frances Delores Clark Daniels MacDermott, Marjorie Barnhard, Brothers; Ray, Dariwin I., Robert and David Randall Clark 
In lieu of flowers family is requesting donations be made to the Loretto Methodist Church or the USO in Ruth’s name.
