Funeral Services For Robert Carl Zipf

Robert C. Zipf, 90, formerly of Albion, NE, died Thursday, December 10, 2015, at Valley View Assisted Living in Fullerton, NE. 

Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at Zion Lutheran Church in Albion, NE with Rev. David Frerichs officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Albion with Military Rites conducted by American Legion Post #162 and V.F.W. Post #736. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Levander Funeral Home in Albion, NE. 

Memorials are suggested to Zion Lutheran Church of Albion or Dialysis Center of Columbus, NE. 

Robert Carl Zipf, son of Carl Augustus and Gertie (Smidt) Zipf was born January 6, 1925 in Nance County, Nebraska. He was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church in Albion, NE and confirmed there in 1938. He attended Nance County School District 17 through the eighth grade. 

In February of 1945 Bob entered the United States Army. On July 28, 1945, he was united in marriage to Darline Mae Lamoree at the Methodist parsonage in Belleville, KS. Bob served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater until his honorable discharge in November of 1946. Upon returning from the service, they lived and farmed near Boone, NE from 1949-1962, when they moved to Madison, NE where they operated the Gambles store. In 1969 they moved to Albion where they owned and operated Zipf Variety store. He also worked as a rural mail carrier until retiring. Bob learned to play the Dobro Guitar and performed with his wife at various music festivals over the years. 

In 2004 they moved to Columbus where Darline passed away in February of this year. Bob recently had been a resident of Valleyview Assisted Living Center in Fullerton. 

Bob was a member of Zion Lutheran Church most of his life, as well as a member of American Legion Post #162 and V.F.W. Post #736.

Surviving Robert are his three children: Connie Heisler of Fremont, NE; Arlyn (Jill) Zipf of Center Conway, NH; Peggy (Jerry) Seamann of Hastings, NE; one brother Maynard Zipf (Yvonne) of North Platte, NE; one sister Velma Gailbraith of Red Bluff, CA; son-in-law Rick Cooper of Omaha; sister-in-law Ruby Zipf and brother-in-law Arnie Newquist, all of Fullerton, NE; along with many relatives and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Darline; daughter June Cooper; son Randy Zipf; brother: Merlin Zipf; three sisters: Neva Peterson; Violet Rosenberry; and Ruby Newquist.
