Funeral Services For Melba Wilson

Melba J. Wilson, 86 of Columbus, NE formerly of St. Edward, NE passed away on Friday, March 24, 2017 at the Columbus Community Hospital, Columbus, NE.

​Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at the United Methodist Church in St. Edward, NE with Rev. Vernon Olson officiating. Interment will be at the Evergreen Cemetery, St. Edward. NE. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Miller-Levander Funeral Home in St. Edward, NE.


Melba Jean Wilson, the daughter of Gustav and Christina (Hanson) Myhre was born on January 11, 1931 at the family home in St. Edward, NE.  She attended elementary school in St. Edward and graduated from St. Edward High School.
           
On May 30, 1951 Melba was united in marriage to Wayne Wilson in Las Vegas, NV.  The couple lived in Colorado Springs, CO before moving back to farm near St. Edward. In addition to helping Wayne farm, Melba managed the American Legion Club in St. Edward, and later worked at Cloverlodge Care Center in housekeeping.  In November of 2015 Melba moved to Meridian Gardens in Columbus, NE with her sister Beverly.

            
Melba was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in St. Edward and ran the legion club for years.  Along with being an avid Bingo player, she helped provide lunches when the Legion Auxiliary put on Bingo, and volunteered with meals-on-wheels. She also enjoyed gardening, playing pitch, and spending time with her family. 

            
Melba is survived by her two daughters: Barbara (Warren) Hesse of Genoa, NE; Diana (Daniel) Aeschliman of Shelby, NE; her sister Beverly Myhre of Columbus, NE; 9 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

           
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Wayne, two sons: Danny and Jerry, three sisters: Arlene Gannuscio, Christine D’Aubin, Dorla James; three brothers: James, Stuart, and Duane Myhre.
