Funeral Services for Marlin G. Enquist, Sr.

Marlin G. Enquist, Sr., 79 of Columbus, NE, passed away Monday, June 1, 2015 at the Golden Living Center in Columbus, NE.

Graveside Services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 5, 2015 at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Petersburg, NE with Rev. Larry Barbary officiating. Visitation will be 5:00 -8:00 p.m. Thursday at Levander Funeral Home in Albion, NE.

Marlin Glenton Enquist was born August 19, 1935, rural Newman Grove, NE to Rudolph Glenton and Myrtle Louise (Nelson) Enquist. Marlin attended rural country schools around Newman Grove and St. Edward. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in December 1954 and was later honorably discharged.

Marlin was united in marriage to Mona Recker on May 4, 1956, at Neligh, NE. To this marriage three sons were born: Marlin Glenton, Jr. “Corky”, Larry Lee and David John. Marlin and Mona lived their first three years of marriage in Petersburg. Marlin worked as a farmhand and drove truck for Ed Faust of Petersburg. In 1959, Marlin and Mona moved to Columbus where Marlin drove milk truck in rural Columbus. In 1971, they moved to Genoa, where he hauled milk for 16 years for Westring and Sons, and also drove for Lindsay Mfg. Co. In 1987, they moved to Columbus and he drove truck for Dickenson Trucking/Behlens Mfg. Co. until he became disabled in 1990.

Marlin enjoyed working on CB radios. He also volunteered many years at Region 10 Platte County Emergency Management of Columbus, storm spotting and other civil activities.

Marlin is survived by his wife Mona of Columbus; three sons: Marlin, Jr. “Corky” (Lorraine) Enquist of Howard, NE; Larry (Shirley) Enquist of Monroe, NE; David (Amanda) of Palmer, NE; three grandsons: Matthew, Andrew and Michael Enquist; three step-grandchildren: Mike and Scott Ferris and Ashley Wilson; two brothers: Jerry (Mae) Enquist of Denver, CO; Roger (Pashia) Enquist of Sylmar, CA; one sister: Donna (Bob) Vermillion of Bend, OR.

Marlin was preceded in death by his parents, stillborn brother Larry Enquist, brothers, Kenneth Enquist and Rudolph Enquist, Jr., and a sister, Marion Witmer.
