Funeral Services For Lawrence Gavlik

Lawrence Gavlik, 75 of Granbury, TX, formerly of St. Edward, NE, passed away Friday, December 25, 2015 unexpectedly at his home in Granbury, TX.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 2, 2016, at St. Edward Catholic Church in St. Edward, NE with Msgr. Ralph Steffensmeier officiating. Inurnment will follow at the parish cemetery in St. Edward, NE. There will be no public visitation. 

Miller-Levander Funeral Home of St. Edward, NE is in charge of arrangements.

Lawrence was born July 16, 1940 in Klamath Falls, Oregon to Alvin and Stasia (Drog) Gavlik. His family moved to Nebraska when he was four years old. He graduated from St. Edward High School in 1960. 

Lawrence joined the U.S. Air Force in 1964 and served in Guam during the Vietnam War. His specialty was aircraft maintenance; he was charged with keeping the jet bombers on constant alert. Lawrence retired from the military in 1990 and from Bell Helicopter in 2002. He was a member of the American Legion and the Ft. Worth Anglers Club. He earned his pilot’s license in 1972 and enjoyed flying, traveling (especially cruises), camping, fishing and visiting with family and friends. 

Survivors include his brother: Richard (Susan) Govlik of Arlington TX; sister: Nancy (Donald) Delozier of Columbia MO; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents; and his brother: Edward.
