Jose Maria Valencia, 82, of Albion, NE, passed away Saturday, January 17, 2016 at his home.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 2, 2016 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Albion with Fr. Stan Schmit officiating. To honor his wishes, cremation has taken place. Palmer-Santin Funeral Home is serving the family. Jose was born December 18, 1933 to Jesus Valencia and Evelynn (Ten Naple) Gongora. He grew up in Los Angeles, CA. He entered the U.S. Army on March 31, 1955 and served three years in Okinawa. He was honorably discharged and served three more years in the ready reserves. After his service, he married Dolores Muńoz in 1958. They were married for 57 years and had five children. They lived in California until 2005 when they moved to Albion, where he resided until his passing. He worked as a custodian at a school district in California from 1975 until he retired in 1992. He is survived by his wife, Dolores Valencia of Albion; five children, Gracie (Reed) Bissegger of Clovis, CA, Fredrick Valencia of Rialto, CA, Thomas Valencia of Albion, Therese (Marv) Casper of Omaha, and Margarita (Teri) Landauer of Albion. He has nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jesus and Evelynn; brother, John Parker; sister, Delores Rodriguez; grandson, Brandon; and daughter-in-law, Shirley Valencia.
