Funeral Services For Helen Milburn

Helen Milburn, 94 of Pueblo West, CO, formerly of Chappell, NE prior to the Legacy Commons, passed away Monday, January 18, 2016 at Legacy Commons Assisted Living in Pueblo West, CO. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 29, 2016, at St. Edward Catholic Church in St. Edward, NE with Msgr. Ralph Steffensmeier officiating. Interment will follow at the parish cemetery in St. Edward, NE. There will be no public visitation. Miller-Levander Funeral Home of St. Edward, NE is in charge of arrangements. 

Memorials are suggested to the family. 

Helen J. Milburn, the daughter of Michael Francis and Pelagia Veronica (Buzynski) Jazwiec, was born February 7, 1921 at Platte Center, NE. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Platte Center, NE and graduated high school from Platte Center High School. 

On January 7, 1942, Helen was united in marriage to Donald Andrew Milburn at the St. Edward Catholic Church. Following their marriage the couple lived in Chappell, NE, where she worked as a depot and mobile railroad agent for Union Pacific from 1943 to 1986. Helen enjoyed gardening, canning, and being especially well known for her tomato juice, polka dancing, debating, where she could always debate both sides, making her chocolate cream pies, and was very particular about her hair. 

She was a member of the Panhandle Czech Dance, lifetime member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary, served three terms as officer for the Union Pacific Railroad Agents, and was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Chappell, NE. 

Helen is survived by her son: David (Joyce) Milburn of Cheyenne, WY; three grandchildren: Debbie (Rick) Rutledge of Colorado Springs, CO; Jeff (Andrea) Milburn of Casper, WY; Jill (Jason) Holdredge of Pueblo West, CO; great-grandchildren: Kyle Green; Derrek (Sasha) Green; Ashtin Green; Brandon, Skyler, and Kevin Milburn; Brook and Matthew Holdredge; great-great-grandchildren: Colin and Alexander Green; one sister: Mary Ann Hyde of Omaha, NE; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Donald; seven brothers and five sisters.
