Gerald “Jerry” O. Walrath, 89, of Davey, formerly of Primrose, NE, passed away April 26, 2017 at the Bellevue Medical Center in Bellevue, NE.

There will be a celebration of life at a later date.

Gerald was born at home in Boone County, NE, February 25, 1928 to Kermet and Josephine (Kruse) Walrath.  He graduated from Albion High School and served his country as a Sgt. in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.  He was a Master Mason of Albion Lodge No. 78. He spent most of his life farming in the Akron community, looked forward to working at the State Fair each year, and doing CB radio repair as a hobby. He also was a mechanic and an air conditioning and refrigeration repairman.  He enjoyed traveling with his wife in their motor home, gathering with the dinner club group, fishing, hunting, and visiting with family and friends.

He was married to the love of his life, Maxine L. Hinkle, on July 22, 1951, in Albion, NE.  They had 5 children.  He is preceded in death by his parents, sister (Karma Rasmussen), and an infant son (David).

He will always be remembered by his children, grandchildren (some who think the “O.” initial stands for “ornery”), and great-grandchildren: Son-Dan (Patsy) Walrath, of Middleton, Idaho, and family: Jennifer Walrath of Washington, DC, Ryan (Nicole) Walrath of Sandia Park, NM, John (Martha) Walrath and their son David of Green River, WY. Daughter-Diane Ahlstrand of Davey, NE and family: Greg (Emily) Ahlstrand and their children Gavin, Patti, and Colton. (He especially loved blowing kisses to his little Patti “Cakes”.)  Son-Perry Walrath of Roswell, NM. Daughter-Pamela (George) Stapp of Cooper, TX and family: Andrea Stapp and Garret Stapp.  We will miss you, “Grizzly, Teddy Bear”!
