Funeral Services For Earl Henry Miller Jr.

Visitation will be 9:30 – 10:30 am Thursday at Levander Funeral Home. A private family interment will take place at Bonanza Cemetery, Akron, Nebraska. Levander Funeral Home, Albion, NE is in charge of arrangements.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Bonanza Cemetery, Veteran Honor Flight program, Wolf Memorial Good Samaritan or Spalding Fire Department.

Earl Henry Miller, Jr., son of Earl Sr. and Mary (Lozar) Miller, was born on August 8, 1921 at Ulysses, KS.  He attended school at Ulysses High School before entering the United States Army on September 5, 1942. He served in New Guinea and the Southern Philippines during World War II before being discharged on December 29, 1945.

On October 17, 1947 Earl was united in marriage to Lavonna Mae Chambers at Ulysses, KS.  They lived in Ulysses, KS where Earl worked as a carpenter before moving to Nebraska in 1952. They lived and farmed near Loretto, NE and later bought a farm in the Akron community where Earl farmed and raised livestock.

He was a member of American Legion Post #162 and VFW Post #762 of Albion. Earl loved farming and his cattle. In his earlier years he enjoyed dancing and the neighborhood card club, and in more recent years, joining the coffee group in Primrose, NE.

Earl is survived by his 3 daughters: Frances (Bill) Reynolds of Custer, SD; Mary Lee (Terry) Mailander of Spalding, NE; and Rhonda Madsen of Raymond, NE; 5 grandchildren: Todd Toni, Tosha, Jessica, Lindsay; 2 great-grandchildren: Tateum and Jett; along with other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Lavonna; grandson Chad Mailander, sister WaDean Miller, brother Hershal Miller and special friend Rosella Lautenschlager.
