Funeral Services For Donald “Pepper” Frank Boden

Donald “Pepper” Frank Boden, 84 of Primrose, NE, passed away Sunday, January 3, 2016 at 9:30 p.m. at the Cloverlodge Care Center in St. Edward, NE. 

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 9, 2016 at the Primrose Presbyterian Church in Primrose, NE with Rev. Mary Avidano officiating. Interment will follow in the Dublin Cemetery at Primrose, NE with military rites conducted by American Legion Post #44 of Cedar Rapids. There will be no public visitation. Levander Funeral Home of Albion, NE is in charge of arrangements. 

Memorials are suggested to the Wounded Warrior Project. 

Donald was born on July 26, 1931 to Herman and Mary Boden on their farm northeast of Primrose and was given the nickname of “Pepper” on that day. Pepper was raised on the farm known by the family as “The Old Place.” Pepper attended school through the 8th grade at District #59 and then began farming with his father and brother “Tub.” Then he met Elaine Martinsen at the Primrose Presbyterian Church while participating in choir. Pepper and Elaine were married in Spalding on February 24, 1952. Pepper and Elaine raised three children Dawn, Jimmy, and Ann on their family farm Northeast of Primrose. Pepper enjoyed doing activities outside, spending time with family and friends, listening to country music, and watching sporting events. 

On April 7, 1953 Pepper reported to Fort Riley, KS after being drafted by the Army. He went on to serve his country for two years, eighteen months of this time was served in Korea. 

Pepper is survived by his wife of 63 years, Elaine; his children: Dawn and Richard Rove of Encino, CA and Ann Boden of Cedar Rapids, NE; and grandchildren: Jamis, Steffen, and Miah Boden; his sister Mary “Tuss” Siebler of Fremont, NE; many nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. 

He was preceded in death by his son Jimmy; parents: Herman and Mary Boden, his brothers and sisters: Lloyd “Bows” Boden, Vernon “Tub” Boden , Ruth Boden , Gladys Korth, and Ethel Young; niece, Sally (Boden) Miller and nephew, Dan Young.
