Bruce James Swerczek, 44 of Columbus, NE, died Friday, May 1, 2015 at North Star Services in Columbus, NE.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 4, 2015 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Albion with Fr. Stan Schmit officiating. Interment will follow at St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery in Albion. Visitation will be 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. Sunday at the church with a 5:00 p.m. wake service. Levander Funeral Home of Albion is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.

Bruce James Swerczek, son of William J. and Margaret E. (Goodwater) Swerczek, was born November 15, 1970 at Albion, NE. He was baptized at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Albion. In 1974, he moved to Columbus, NE, where he was under the care of Region 4, and later North Star Services.

When Bruce was young, he liked escaping the house to the park or a visit to the Boilesen’s, and swinging a hanger on his thumb. He always looked forward to joy rides in the car and going to eat at Kentucky Fried Chicken.

Bruce is survived by his parents Bill and Margie Swerczek of Albion, NE; one sister Wendy (Steve) Shaw of Omaha, NE, two brothers: Craig (Stephanie) Swerczek of Ashland, NE and Brad (Joanie) Swerczek of Humphrey, NE; grandmother, Helen Swerczek of Cedar Rapids, NE; nieces and nephews: Emily, Laura and Ben Shaw; Logan Behnk; Spencer and Madison Swerczek; Dalton and Alex Smith; his Region 4 and North Star Family; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Art and Helen Goodwater and Joseph Swerczek; three uncles: Paul Swerczek, Bob Goodwater and George Abboud and one cousin Steve Goodwater.
