Funeral Services for Bruce D. Wozny

Bruce D. Wozny, 51 of Clarks, NE, died Thursday, July 9, 2015 at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island, NE. 

Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids, NE with Msgr. Ralph Steffensmeier officiating. Military Rites conducted by Dan Cox American Legion Post #44 of Cedar Rapids will follow at St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 – 7 p.m. Monday, at the church with a 7 p.m. wake service. Services are conducted by Levander Funeral Home of Cedar Rapids, NE.

Bruce Dean Wozny, son of David and Kathleen (Coble) Wozny, was born October 29, 1963 in Omaha, Nebraska.  He was baptized in Omaha and confirmed at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids.  He received his education at Belgrade Elementary Schools, and graduated from Cedar Rapids High School in 1982. 

He was married to Kelly J. Gilroy on August 26, 1982 in Fullerton, NE.  To this union three children were born: Jonathan, Justin and Joshua.

In May of 1982, Bruce entered the United States Marines were he served for 9 years at Camp Pendleton with one year stationed at Okinawa, Japan and a tour in the Gulf War.  On August 2, 1991, after being honorably discharged from the service, he drove truck for Anding Trucking, leased to BMC Transport where he purchased his first truck for Wozny and Sons Trucking.  He took great pride in his semi truck which he leased on with BMC Transport, Zentner Transportation and Craig Transport.  He also trucked for Sysco Foods and Central Plains Milling in Howells.

On June 15, 2012, Bruce married Cynthia Ann Vandergronden.  They made their home in Clarks, NE where Bruce has been working for Viessman Trucking the last 1 ½ years. 

Bruce grew up attending St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids.  He enjoyed his family and friends and riding his Harley Davidson.

He is survived by his wife Cindy of Clarks, NE; three sons: Jonathan Wozny of Dunedin, FL; Justin and fiancé Amanda Berndt, and Joshua (Elizabeth) Wozny, all of Lincoln, NE; two sisters: Kay Nelson and friend Tom Tasler of O’Neill, NE; Susan (Todd) Ligenza of Columbus, NE; biological father: Bruce Knapp of Minot, ND; grandmother Francis Wozny of St. Edward, NE; Ex-wife Kelly Gilroy of Albion; three step-children: Ashly Andersen of Denver, CO; Niki Anderson of Phoenix, AZ; Christopher Gullicksen of Clarks, NE; a niece, Kyna Schmidt of Sioux Falls, SD and nephew: Kyle Ligenza of Columbus, NE; along with numerous relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Steven Wozny.
