August “Augie” Carl Stromberg, son of Carl and Marie Elizabeth (Dinslage) Stromberg was born March 23, 1941 on a farm southwest of Albion in Boone County, Nebraska. Augie grew up in the District #13 neighborhood, received his elementary education at District #13 and graduated from Albion High School in 1959. As a youth he was very involved in helping his father with farming and spent many years in 4-H showing dairy cattle at the fair in Boone County, the Nebraska State Fair, and Aksarben.

On January 19, 1974, Augie was united in marriage to Susan Clark at the St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Albion, Nebraska. To this union two children were born: Kevin Karl and Jennifer Jo. He and Susan were divorced in 1982.

On February 14, 1987, he was united in marriage to Patricia Wagner at the Belgrade Methodist Church in Belgrade, Nebraska. Augie and Pat lived for 20 years in Albion where they joined the Zion Lutheran Church, where Augie served as an usher. Augie had a special passion for farming which he did for many years. In addition to farming, he worked for several years for the City of Albion in the parks and street departments, as well as working as a grounds keeper at the Albion Country Club. In addition, Augie, Pat, and children operated the concession stand at the Albion Sports Complex for 12 years. Later, Augie and Pat operated a business of serving court papers in a seven county area for 14 years, traveling many miles together. During most of that time, they also farmed for his aunt Julia near Petersburg, Nebraska. In 2006 Augie and Pat moved to Central City.

Augie enjoyed spending time outdoors in his garden, fishing, and driving his lawn mower. He also enjoyed having coffee and spending time with his friends at the Waffle House in Central City, a daily morning ritual. Together, they enjoyed traveling to Alaska, the Panama Canal, the Caribbean, as well as many trips to other places they could drive to. They especially liked to pack a lunch, take their dog Molly, and go for a drive just to see where they would end up. Augie also loved spending time at his cabin, fishing, and showing his grandchildren the tips and tricks to catch the big ones and driving the golf cart.

Augie is survived by his wife Pat of Central City, NE; son: Kevin of Omaha, NE; daughter: Jennifer Stromberg, and her children: Jacob and Grace, all of Palmer, NE; sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Darrell and Donna Bailey of McCool Junction, NE; niece: Dana (Jason) Hall and nephew: Douglas Bailey, all of McCool Junction, NE; his little dog Molly; and numerous cousins, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Carl and Marie Stromberg; one sister: Phyllis Brennis; grandparents: August and Emma (Carlson) Stromberg and Herman and Mary (Miller) Dinslage; and his special aunt: Julia Brown.
