Funeral Services for Aristide "Jimmy" Primus

Aristide “Jimmy” Primus, 93 of Cedar Rapids, NE, passed away Monday, July 20, 2015 at the Cloverlodge Care Center in St. Edward, NE.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 27, 2015, at St. Vincent de Paul Parish in Phoenix, AZ. Visitation will be one hour prior to Mass, at the church. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Avondale, AZ.

Aristide “Jimmy” Primus, son of Gregorio and Lucia (Puntel) Primus, was born Sept. 9, 1921 at Cleulis, Italy. He attended elementary school in Cleulis and in 1938, immigrated to America, making Philadelphia, PA his home, and working as an apprentice to a stone mason.

On April 13, 1947, Jimmy married Ida Ferri in Philadelphia. They were blessed with one daughter, Lucille. They continued living in Philadelphia and Jimmy worked as a stone mason until moving to Phoenix, AZ in 1980, where he worked in the maintenance department of a hospital until retiring in 1986. Following Ida’s death in 2005, Jimmy moved with his daughter to Cedar Rapids, NE and lived there until entering Cloverlodge Care Center at St. Edward, NE in 2010.

Jimmy was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church and was a parishioner of St. Vincent de Paul Parish in Phoenix from 1980-2005 and St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids, NE from 2005 until present. He loved to read, tell stories of the old country, and watch old westerns. He especially enjoyed his trip back to Italy in 1997, when he got to visit his niece Guissippina Puntel and cousin Don Tarccisio Puntel.

Jimmy is survived by his daughter Lucille (Leonard) Geiser of Cedar Rapids, NE; four grandchildren: Leonard Geiser Jr., Michael Geiser and Daniel Geiser, all of Phoenix, AZ; Gina Geiser-Fousek of Cedar Rapids, NE; 7 great-grandchildren; along with numerous other relatives living in the USA and Italy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Ida and 6 brothers and sisters: Guissippina, Lucia, Mercedes, Ancilla, Arduina and Romeo.
