Funeral Service For Esther Petsche

Esther M. Petsche, 94 of Petersburg, NE passed away Friday, August 25, 2017 at the Boone County Health Center in Albion, NE.

A Mass of Christian burial will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Petersburg with Rev. Mark Tomasiewicz officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Monday at the church, with a 7:00 p.m. Wake Service with Deacon John Starman officiating.

Levander Funeral Home in Albion, NE is in charge of the arrangements.
Esther Marie Petsche, the daughter of John and Anna (Schwabe) Zwingman was born on November 22, 1922  on a farm northeast of Petersburg, NE.  She was baptized and confirmed at the St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Raeville, NE.  Esther attended School District #45 in Raeville, NE, and graduated from Petersburg High School at Petersburg, NE.  After attending Hastings College, she taught school for several years in Boone County.

On May 30, 1950 Esther was united in marriage to Lawrence Joseph Petsche at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Petersburg, NE.  The couple farmed east of Petersburg until Lawrence passed away on March 20, 2002.  In July of 2016, Esther moved to the Good Samaritan Estates in Albion, NE. 

Esther was a member of the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and St. John’s Altar Society.  She enjoyed being on the farm and raising chickens for their eggs, along with quilting and gardening.
She is survived by two children: Jane (Steve) Faust and Robert (Deb) Petsche all of Petersburg, NE; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister: Delores Majerus of Elkhorn, NE; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Esther was preceded in death by her parents; husband Lawrence; 2 infant children; grandson: Kyle Faust; sister: Mabel Wirges; brothers-in-law: John Wirges and Edward Majerus.
