Up to 8 inches of snow is possible on Wednesday as Winter Storm Selene continues to move through the Plains Region.

According to the National Weather Service, 5-8 inches of snow is expected to fall. Rain will mix with and then change over to all snow by mid-afternoon today. Snow is then expected through the afternoon and ending tonight.

A heavy wet snow is expected. With strong north winds of 20-30 mph with gusts over 40 mph, this may create tree damage and power outages. Low visibility and difficult travel is likely.

As of Wednesday morning, nearly a foot of snow had already been reported west of Boulder, Colorado, with snow falling at 2 inches per hour.

Stretches of Interstate 80 in southern Wyoming have been shut down.
