A Kearney native officially joined the Antelope County News staff this week.

Logan Lawson will be a reporter and videographer primarily for the ACN, but he will also assist with the other counties covered by the news team, including Holt, Boone and Knox. He'll cover all aspects of news and sports with writing, photography and video.

Pitzer Digital owner Carrie Pitzer said she's excited to have Lawson on staff and is intrigued about what he will bring to the news division of the media and marketing company.

"Logan is great addition to our staff, and I'm excited about what he brings to our team," Pitzer said. "He's a talented writer and is very knowledgeable in many areas, especially sports, so he's really a great fit for the direction we're moving."

Lawson is not a rookie in the sports world. While he lived in Omaha, he played semipro football with the Omaha Stockmen. He also played rugby in college.

Lawson, who attending the University of Nebraska-Kearney, is switching gears from banking to news. Before joining the Local County News team, Lawson was a banker at Wells Fargo in Omaha and Nebraska State Bank in Broken Bow.

Pitzer said she was immediately impressed with Lawson's abilities and his eagerness to join the news world.

Lawson said although reporting is new to him, he's ready for the challenge and is thrilled to move to Antelope County.

"I am excited to trying something new and have the opportunity to get out and interact with people on a regular basis. I love trying new things," Lawson said. "This has been something that I have always been interested in but haven’t pursued yet."

Lawson is moving to the Neligh community from Broken Bow with his fiance, Lianne Boggs.  Originally from Verdigre, Boggs recently joined the Overland Rehab team in Neligh as a physical therapist.

The couple is getting married in June at Boggs' home church in Bazille Mills. Lawson said they are excited about moving to the Neligh community.

"I really like Neligh. It’s a good small town and very welcoming," Lawson said.

Pitzer said Lawson's hiring is one of many announcements that will be made by the company in the coming weeks.

"We have a lot of exciting things happening with our company as a whole, but especially in our news division," she said. "The next month will be very busy with a lot of changes, and Logan is key to this transition. Readers have been very supportive of our rural media initiative, and I think they'll be excited about our expansions."
