On the 72nd anniversary of D-Day, 500 Nebraska Vietnam Combat Veterans, including many from the Boone County area, are spending the day at the nation's capital.

According to a press release, the veterans are taking part in a one-day, all expenses-paid trip to Washington D.C. While there, they will visit the Vietnam Wall, where a brief ceremony will be held. From there, they will also go see the Korea, Lincoln, World War II, Iwo Jima and Air Force Memorials. The group will also attend the Changing of the Guard ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknowns at the Arlington National Cemetery.
