Authorities in Madison County locked down Newman Grove High School on Wednesday after a threat was received on social media.

Madison County Sheriff Vern Hjorth confirms to News Channel Nebraska that the threat was made on social media via Facebook and that four juveniles, three boys and one girl, were taken into custody on Wednesday afternoon.

Authorities put Newman Grove High School into lockdown on Wednesday afternoon as they continue the process of clearing the building and completing their investigation.

Superintendent Mikel Shalikow says that the incident involved a “direct threat” against the school made on social media. He says the school was made aware of the post just after noon today and followed their school protocol. Newman Grove Police and Madison County Sheriff’s officials responded to the scene.

No other details are available at this time.
