The Boone Central girls team earned runner up as the Cardinals hosted more than 200 high school boys and girls from 18 schools at their invite in Albion on Friday.

The meet features a unique format in which athletes compete against those of their own grade and must place in the top 5 of their grade division to earn a medal.

Christina Stopak led the way for the BC girls with her first place finish in the senior girls division. She was runner up overall with a time of 20:32. Other medalists for the Cardinal girls were Katie Goodwater, 3rd, and Emma Arndts, 4th, in the sophomore division.

The BC boys narrowly missed out on the medals as top Cardinal finisher Thomas Hosford was 9th for senior boys and Scott Wright was 7th for sophomores.

In the junior high division, Jordan Stopak and Autumn Simons placed 2nd and 5th, respectively. Jonny Lindgren was 1st in the boys race, followed by Bradley Schindel in 4th. Both of the Boone Central junior high teams earned first place in the meet.
