A legend in the football world was recognized Saturday during halftime of the Northeast Nebraska All-Star Classic.
Arnie Johnson, who retired last year as head coach of the Boone Central/Newman Grove football team, was recognized with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Past recipients are LaMarr Gibson and Bob Schnitzler.
Johnson spent 27 years as a football coach and amassed an incredible career record 239-122-1, including a record of 198-90 at Boone Central/Newman Grove, Boone Central and Albion.
His teams won state championships in 2001 and 2014 and runner-up honors in 2004 and 2012.
