Thanks in part to junior Maddie Walkowiak, Riverside had no problem working their way through subdistricts on Monday night and earning a spot in the district finals Thursday.

The Chargers won both their subdistrict matches in straight sets to move on to the finals. In their first showdown with Elba, the Chargers won easily 25-15, 25-7, 25-8.

Walkowiak led the attack, putting down 13 kills and two aces. Grace Schalk also did her part, serving up four more aces in the match.

The win sent Riverside on to a match up with a well-known opponent. They took on Spalding Academy, topping the Shamrocks in straight sets 25-17, 25-20, 25-21.

Walkowiak once again led the Chargers, putting down 16 kills on 27 attempts. Morgan Haschke did her part in the win, adding nine kills in the match.

While the site is yet to be determined, the Chargers do know they will be taking on Hampton on Thursday for a chance to head to the state tournament in Lincoln.
