The Boone County Sheriff's Office has been awarded a $2,500.00 grant.
The grant was awarded from the NDOT Highway Safety Office as part of the statewide "Click It or Ticket" campaign focusing on Nebraska's seatbelt and child safety-seat laws with the hope to reduce the number of injuries that occur in traffic accidents.
Extra deputies will be working selected areas in the county May 21 through June 3 looking for all types of traffic violations.
Nebraska's occupant protection laws state that any child under the age of 5 must be in an approved child safety-seat. Any child between the ages of 6-17 must wear a seatbelt whether they are in the front seat or the back seat, and any person 18 and above riding in the front seat of a vehicle must be wearing a seatbelt.
The Boone County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the Office of Highway Safety for giving them this opportunity to make Boone County roadways safer for all those who travel on them.
